Dr. Elly W. Karuhanga, Co-Founder and Chairman of Memnon Capital Africa, took part as a panellist on Day 3 of the 7th Uganda Economic Forum, which ran from 13 to 16 October 2026. His participation was announced by the Uganda Chamber of Energy and Minerals (UCEM) in a 15 October 2026 post on LinkedIn (opens in a new tab), which described him as an esteemed oil and gas sector expert.

According to UCEM, the forum was held under the theme “Putting Money in People’s Pockets: Translating Economic Growth into Household Prosperity” and served as a platform for exploring how Uganda can turn economic progress into tangible benefits for its people.

The question of how growth reaches households is close to the work Memnon does in Uganda’s minerals sector. Memnon’s model is built around responsible mineral development — formalising artisanal and small-scale gold production, verifying ground before capital is committed, and processing under chain-of-custody — so that value created from Uganda’s resources is accountable and shared with the communities that host it. The company’s Community Development Program, delivered with Spotlight On Africa, and its Impact & ESG approach set out how that benefit is intended to reach people on the ground.

This article reports Dr. Karuhanga’s participation as announced by UCEM. The subject of his panel contribution has not been published, and nothing here should be read as a summary of his remarks or as a Memnon announcement made at the forum.
